Though Robin van Persie did what he could to force Arsene Wenger to sell him to Manchester United in the offseason, the Arsenal manager says the two still keep in contact. "He texts me sometimes, We keep in touch. He tells me he still watches Arsenal games,'' says Wenger. The following is a transcript of their latest texting session.
RVP: Top of the table. How's seventh place? ;)
Wenger: Stuff it, placenta face. Without you, United would be 12th. Ask Ferguson who's too dependent on you now!
RVP: Whatever. We r going to win a bunch of silverware. Good luck going 4 your invisible 4th place trophy.
Wenger: And good luck not getting hurt. The chances of you making it through the season without an injury are about as good as Cesc Fabregas starting five matches in a row for Barcelona.
RVP: Speaking of injuries I heard Theo Walcott is looking 4 houses in Manchester. And Liverpool. And Italy. LOL
Wenger: I don't care if he leaves! He grew an awful mustache and now I hate his face.
RVP: Suuuure. :)
Wenger: Stop with the emoticons. They make you look like a turd a.k.a. Andrei Arshavin.
RVP: A.k.a the one player who won't leave Arsenal. Besides Gervinho.
Wenger: Why are you texting me? Don't you have to feed Rooney a raw steak before midnight or something?
RVP: Just wanted 2 say congratulations on that 0-0 draw against Aston Villa last week. Reminded me that I made the right decision.
Wenger: You can't even spell out the word "to"? I really can't wait until Paul Scholes tackles you in the neck during training.
RVP: Don't be mean, Arsene, or I won't come back on loan when I'm 50 like Thierry Henry.
Wenger: THIERRY HENRY IS A GOD AMONG MEN AND HIS NAME IS TOO GOOD FOR YOUR DELICATE THUMBS
RVP: Easy there. You'll pop your puffer coat.
Wenger: I should have never told you that I wear it to bed. Why am I even talking to you? You've been dead to me since August. P.S. If you ever give any of your clothing to Andre Santos again I will burn your house down.
RVP: OK, Arsene. I'll be sure to give the Premier League trophy a kiss for you. Bye.
Wenger: And I'll give your grandmother a kiss for you.
RVP: That's gross, Arsene.
Wenger: That's not what she said.

Walcott feeling ´deadly´ in front of goal
Arsenal winger Theo Walcott has described himself as 'deadly' in front of goal this season.
The England international has scored 10 goals for Arsenal this season in all competitions, including a hat-trick against Reading in the League Cup, and the opener in a 1-1 draw against Everton at Goodison Park on Wednesday.
And Walcott argues that he now has the confidence to take any chances that come his way.
"Those are the sort of positions that this season and in the last few seasons I have been quite deadly in," he told the club's official website.
"When given a little sniff I am able to take it now. My general play is getting better as well. The assists are coming now, which is fantastic, and I am enjoying my football.
"I think I scored 11 last season and 13 the year before. Not just that, but my general play (is getting better) as well. The assists are coming now, which is fantastic, and I am enjoying my football.
"I am very happy with the way I have started and it has got to continue. Hopefully I will take it into Saturday's game (against Swansea City)."
Meanwhile, Thomas Vermaelen insists that there is no mental weakness in the Arsenal team, but the Belgian admits that they need to do better when closing out games after seeing Everton draw level.
"Mentality-wise, there is nothing wrong with the team. Everybody works hard and there is no-one who doesn't work for the team and that will give you results, from that point of view I am very happy," he said.
"In the first minute (against Everton) we scored a good goal and after that we dominated but gave them chances because we were a little bit sloppy with the ball, so that was a bit disappointing."
Monaco FC WASAKA SAINI YA BEKHAM
David Beckham says a return to the English Premier League is unlikely as he weighs up a number of offers to continue his playing career.
Beckham announced earlier this month that he would leave MLS club Los Angeles Galaxy at the end of the season after five years in the United States.
The decision triggered a wave of interest, with clubs in Australia, Brazil and Russia all clamouring to secure the former England captain's services.
But it appears Beckham may be headed to France, where Ligue 2 side Monaco have emerged as surprise favourites to sign the title winner with Manchester United, Real Madrid and AC Milan.
The ambitious principality club are expected to begin negotiations with Beckham on Saturday following the MLS Cup final between Galaxy and Houston Dynamo.
"I'm lucky because at 37 years old, I've been offered some exciting options," Beckham said.
"I've got quite a few offers on the table.
"I've always said I think I would struggle to come back and play in England because I've played for the biggest club in the world, the biggest club in England, Manchester United, and I couldn't see myself playing for any other Premiership team.
"But you never know. Like I said, we've got some exciting options on the table. I do think we'll be spending a little more time in England because it's good for the kids to see their grandparents."
Monaco play in the second tier of French football after being relegated from Ligue 1 in 2010.
Billionaire Russian businessman Dmitry Rybolovlev bought a majority stake in club last year, and has ambitions of returning Monaco to the heights which saw them reach the Champions League final in 2004.
Former Chelsea manager Claudio Ranieri has taken the reins at the Stade Louis II, with his side on top of the Ligue 2 table after 15 matches.

Valdano:amnatka Mourinho aache kulalamika.
Former Real Madrid forward Jorge Valdano has criticised coach Jose Mourinho for his constant complaining.
The 57-year old believes the stature of the club should stop the Portuguese coach protesting against minor incidents.
Valdano says the complaining is a sign of weakness a big club needs to avoid at all costs.
"Protesting is not something that Real Madrid should be doing," he told Cadena SER.
"No big club should be doing that. I saw that show on the other side, at Barcelona, for 25 years.
"I got the feeling that it weakened them on an institutional level and Real Madrid should not be giving out signals of weakness."
Valdano said he was frustrated that figures from the past have often had to defend comments made by current staff.
"Real Madrid are the biggest club of the 20th century," he said.
"You shouldn't be putting so much emphasis on the result, why not defend the corporate and institutional culture of the club?
"I prefer the ideals of players and fans from the past. We must defend that prestige."
VICTOR MOSSES ASIFIA TIMU YAKE YA TAIFA ( NIGERIA)
Chelsea forward Victor Moses is confident Nigeria can lift the Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa next year.
The former Wigan man, who broke into the Nigeria team this year, believes several factors will work in favour of the side when the tournament begins in January next year.
"I am confident we can get the job done in South Africa. This is because we have a good team with determined players who are ready to prove that it is a new dawn for the game in the country," Moses told Goal.com.
"Nigeria missed the last tournament in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon and there is a hunger on the part of the players to do well and appease the fans of the team.
"We have a wonderful coaching crew who know how to bring out the best in the players. They have succeeded in making sure that every player merits being on the plane to South Africa.
"Nigerians are praying and the football authorities are also working round the clock to motivate the team.
"We have a strong team and with all the preparations that will be put in place, I don't see anything stopping us."
Nigeria are in Group C alongside defending champions Zambia, Burkina Faso and Ethiopia

Andy Carroll hatimae kurudi kuiva man united
West Ham striker Andy Carroll may be looking to get his own back at Manchester United's Sir Alex Ferguson when the sides meet on Wednesday.
Carroll scored for West Ham in their 3-1 loss to Tottenham over the weekend, his first goal for the club and his first Premier League score since April when he was playing with Liverpool.
The struggling Carroll was deemed surplus to requirements when Brendan Rodgers took over at Liverpool during the summer and was subsequently loaned to West Ham.
Never one to avoid putting the boot into Liverpool, Ferguson declared that former Reds manager Kenny Dalglish may not have done enough homework when he originally signed Carroll from Newcastle.
"He'd played not a lot of games for Newcastle and had to deal with a 35 million (pound) transfer to a club like Liverpool," Ferguson told the Sunday Mirror.
"He was young and it was quite a big jump for him for that kind of money. We've gambled on a couple of players in the past, a couple of million, something like that.
"But when you get to that level of 35 million, you need to a bit more homework and see how he is in the second season, maybe.
"Now it's up to the boy to improve himself. He's a great header of the ball and very aggressive. He'll be a handful on Wednesday (now Thursday)."
Although the comments may fire up Carroll somewhat for the game at Old Trafford, they appear more an attempt by Ferguson to deflect some of the criticism being aimed at his own side after they struggled somewhat in a 3-1 win over last-placed QPR.
Although his side came away with the victory, Ferguson did not appear particularly happy with the overall performance after Jamie Mackie gave QPR the lead.
It was the 13th time in 20 matches this season that United have conceded first, although in nine of those games they have won, with victory against QPR being achieved through three goals in an eight-minute burst.
The result sees Manchester United reclaim top position on the Premier League table as Manchester City were held to a 0-0 draw by Chelsea, while West Ham are in eighth position despite the loss to Spurs.
West Ham may still be in some trouble, however, after sections of the crowd allegedly subjected the Tottenham side to anti-Semitic chants during the game, just a few days after 10 Spurs supporters were injured in what was reportedly a race related attack in Rome.
Wenger plays down Wilshere injury
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says Jack Wilshere's minor ankle injury is 'nothing' and will heal with rest.
Wilshere has successfully returned to action with the Gunners after nearly 18 months on the sidelines but was an unused substitute in the 0-0 draw with Aston Villa.
Wenger resisted fans' calls for the 20-year-old's introduction at Villa Park to give him the break that will help the inflammation in his ankle heal.
"First, it's a relief that he's had no setback (since returning from injury)," Wenger told reporters.
"He had a little bit of inflammation of scar tissue (in the ankle) but it's nothing. It's very minor.
"The rest will help him get rid of it. Apart from that, he has done very well.
"He has not played for 17 months. People forget what that means. Seventeen months in a career is massive. But I'm very happy with the way he is progressing."
Arsenal sit in sixth place in the Premier League following the stalemate against Paul Lambert's side, and trail league leaders Manchester United by 10 points.

TEVES ANAMKUBALI MESSI KULIKO RONALDO
Carlos Tevez understands why Cristiano Ronaldo thinks he is the best in the world, but believes only Lionel Messi is worthy of the honour.
Tevez, along with his Manchester City team-mates, will tackle Ronaldo's Real Madrid on Wednesday needing a win to keep their dreams of reaching the knockout stages alive.
The Clasico rivals are expected to go head-to-head in the battle for the prestigious Ballon d'Or award, and the former Manchester United forward believes his international colleague should be honoured for a third consecutive season.
"I think it is only right if Cristiano Ronaldo does believe he is the best in the world," Tevez told The Daily Mail.
"Any guy who gets 37-40 goals a season has a right to believe that, but if you push me I am always going to go on the side of Messi.
"Cristiano is one of the best players in the world and he will play in this game the way he always has done," added Tevez.
"He does not seem to feel pressure. We will have to keep a special eye on him.
"I think that you have got to try and make sure he doesn't get in behind you. Once he gets a chance to run at you he is very dangerous and he strikes the ball well too so you have to try and stop him further up the field."
GIROUD AWAONYA ARSENAL
Olivier Giroud has warned Arsenal of the threat Montpellier hold ahead of Wednesday's 'must-win' Champions League clash.
The 26-year-old knows more about his upcoming opposition than most, having joined the Gunners from Montpellier in the summer, and he has emphasised the need for a victory against the Ligue 1 champions with Arsenal only a point ahead of third-placed Olympiakos in Group B.
The French champions will arrive at the Emirates with their hopes of progressing from the group stage already extinguished, but Giroud has urged caution ahead of the tie.
"It's a must-win match for us because Arsenal have to go through to the next phase of the competition," Giroud told reporters.
"Montpellier have nothing to lose now. They are already eliminated but we have to be careful as that’s when some teams are most dangerous.
"They didn't become champions of France with no talent. We must not take anything for granted when they come to the Emirates."
The Ligue 1 outfit have seen their fortunes change radically since Giroud's summer departure as they currently languish in 14th place in the division they topped last term.
And their former striker suggested that last season’s over-achievement may well have taken the club by surprise.
"I've spoken to some of the guys at Montpellier and they have been having a difficult season," Giroud said.
"It was a big surprise to everyone that we were champions of France and maybe it was hard to digest.
"Last season things seemed to go our way. We were riding a wave and it seems that wave isn't there anymore."

Europa League preview:Leaders clash in Group H
Inter Milan will need to overcome Rubin Kazan's miserly defence when the two Group H leaders battle it out for top spot in the Europa League.
Rubin Kazan have not conceded a goal since they took on Inter in Milan on Matchday 1 of this season's Europa League.
Both sides have won their past three games in the Europa League and will meet at Kazan's Centralniy Stadion on Thursday with either team set to move three points clear at the top of Group H with a victory.
Rodrigo Palacio could be the key player in Andrea Stramaccioni's plans to break open Kazan's defence as the Argentine attacker has scored three of Inter's four goals in their past two Europa League fixtures.
Inter head into the game on the back of a 2-2 draw against Cagliari, while Kazan won 2-0 away to Alaniya in the Russian Premier League.
In Group J, Lazio will host Tottenham in another top-of-the-group clash.
Lazio lead Group J on eight points, while Tottenham are two points adrift in second and the English club will hope they have turned a corner after their 3-1 win at home against Maribor last time out.
Tottenham started their Europa League campaign with three consecutive draws before overcoming the Slovenian champions on Matchday 4.
Lazio drew 0-0 away to Serie A leaders Juventus over the weekend, while Tottenham went down 5-2 against local rivals Arsenal.
Liverpool will welcome Young Boys Bern to Anfield in Group A in a rematch of their thrilling 5-3 result on Matchday 1.
Brendan Rodgers will hope his Liverpool side can come out on top again, although the Northern Irish manager will no doubt be keen to see a more comprehensive victory this time around.
Liverpool trailed Young Boys 3-1 with less than half an hour to play in September before Jonjo Shelvey came to the rescue with two goals in the last 15 minutes to inspire victory.
Switzerland's Young Boys drew 0-0 at home against St Gallen on Saturday, while Liverpool won 3-0 over Wigan.
Marseille will hope to leapfrog Borussia Moenchengladbach in Group C when they host leaders Fenerbahce, while Basel should be confident of a win at home when Group G's bottom club Sporting Lisbon come to town.
In Group F, PSV Eindhoven must win to keep their hopes of Europa League progress alive when they host Ukraine's Dnipro Dniproptrovsk, while Udinese will make the long trek to play Anzhi Makhachkala in Group A, Hannover take on Twente in Group L and Group D leaders Newcastle United host Portugal's Maritimo.
